Corner store becomes a new modern home

Uptown New Orleans is a wonderful neighborhood with a rich history and amazing amenities in walking distance such as Magazine street with restaurants and retails shops that many visitors to New Orleans love to enjoy. The streets are lined with mature Oak trees that create beautiful shade structures. Historically, each neighborhood included corner stores that may either be either retail, restaurant or bars. This old corner store had many uses along the way as well as three residential units. The project also included an adjacent vacant lot.

The program included converting the existing mixed use building into an owner’s residence and a rental unit while utilizing the vacant lot to construct a pool and side porch. The exterior was largely restored to its original condition and in interior was completely reconstructed to include a beautiful eat in kitchen and an amazing living area that once was the entrance to the corner store.
