Modern Shotgun double

This project consisted of reimagining the traditional New Orleans shot gun double.  What could a modern two residential unit on a narrow typical New Orleans lot actually be like?  Is it possible to construct a building on such a lot in such a neighborhood?  While providing modern amenities and functional living?  It sounded like a great goal and one that we were very excited to explore. The design consisted of two independent homes each with its own private backyard living space instead of the units mirroring one another, they are positioned one to the front of the property and one to the rear of the property connected by storage and mechanical space. This allows for each two story unit to become more private in views, access, and sound separation.
